Swimmer Rescued After Being Swept Into Cove at Mother Ivey’s Bay
At 09:26 on Monday 7th October, HM Coastguard in Padstow responded to reports of a swimmer stuck in a cove at Mother Ivey’s Bay. The swimmer had entered the water for a swim but was swept into a cove by rough sea conditions, leaving them unable to self-recover.
Cliff Rescue Operation
The coastguard team quickly determined that the safest way to retrieve the swimmer was through a cliff rescue. A full cliff rescue rig was set up, and a technician was lowered to the swimmer. Once the swimmer was secured in the rescue strop, both were successfully brought back up the cliff to safety.
Assistance from Newquay
Newquay Coastguard’s search and rescue team was also called to assist. However, they were stood down en route as the casualty had been safely recovered by the Padstow team.
