Two People Rescued from Trevone Round Hole by Coastguard Teams
Emergency callout on 8th July
HM Coastguard Padstow and Newquay’s search and rescue team were called out at 11:48am on 8th July 2025 to reports of a person trapped inside Trevone Round Hole, a large collapsed sea cave near Padstow.
On arrival, it quickly became clear that two individuals were stuck, not just one as initially believed.
Technical cliff rescue launched
The teams set up for a technical cliff rescue. A cliff technician was deployed and confirmed that both people were uninjured and did not need medical treatment.
Each person was recovered one at a time back to the cliff top.
Once safe, safety advice was offered, and the team packed away their equipment before returning to base.
RNLI lifeguards thanked
HM Coastguard Padstow gave thanks to RNLI Trevone lifeguards for checking in and offering assistance during the incident.
In a post shared on Facebook, the team reminded the public:
“Please remember that Trevone Round Hole is not accessible. These individuals were very lucky not to have been injured in this situation”
They also urged anyone who sees someone in difficulty on or near the coast to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
