Andrew Wood Appointed as Penlee Lifeboat Station Technician

Penlee Lifeboat Station has appointed a new full time Station Technician, with a familiar face stepping into the role.

New appointment confirmed

Penlee crewman and inshore lifeboat helmsman Andrew Wood has been appointed as the new full time Penlee Lifeboat Station Technician.

Andrew was interviewed on 27th January 2026 by two area managers from the RNLI along with Lifeboat Operations Manager David Pascoe. Following the interview, Andrew was offered the role.

A well known member of the crew

Known as Woody, Andrew is described as a well known and respected sailor and a popular crewman with a lot of experience. Those at Penlee Lifeboat Station are said to be delighted that he has agreed to take on the position.

Andrew is expected to start his new role in a couple of weeks.
