Could You Try Every Dish? Penzance Unveils Its First Tapas Trail
Penzance is about to launch something new for food lovers. From 17th to 21st September, the town will host its first-ever Tapas Trail, a five-day celebration of food and drink that showcases some of the area’s best-loved restaurants and producers.
Cornish Taste Trail
The event, known in Cornish as Tro Gwithys Kernewek (Cornish Taste Trail), invites people to explore the town through bite-sized dishes, each priced at £5 or less.
Organised by the Penzance BID, the Tapas Trail brings together a wide mix of independent restaurants, cafés, bars and shops, each serving up their own unique take on “tapas”. Participants can pick up a Tapas Trail card and sample everything from Cornish favourites to inventive global small plates while wandering through the town.
Who’s Taking Part?
Venues signed up for the trail include:
The Alverne, The Cornish Hen, The Front Room, Pocket Full of Stones, Chapel House, Jubilee Pool, Whits and Bay, Redwing Gallery, Flatties, Zennor Wild, Loafs, Fraser’s Fish & Chips, Thai Moon, Pirates Rest, Archie Browns, Lavenders, Hellys Bistro, RideOn, and Boatshed.
With dishes designed to be enjoyed in miniature, the event offers the chance to taste a variety of flavours while discovering hidden gems across Penzance.
Linked with the Food Festival
The Tapas Trail also coincides with the second Penzance Food Festival in Penlee Park, running from 19th to 21st September, creating a packed few days for anyone keen to experience the town’s creative and culinary talent.
Sarah Shaw of the Penzance BID said:
“The Tapas Trail is all about bringing people together, whether you’re a local rediscovering your town or a visitor exploring it for the first time. It’s a fantastic way to showcase the creativity, hospitality, and flavour that make Penzance special.”
