Would You Survive a Pasty Apocalypse? Cornwall’s Zombie Escape Room Will Test You

New attraction in Penzance lets players crawl through freezers, dodge traps and decide the fate of humanity… all while laughing

What do you get when a Cornish pasty causes the end of the world? A brand-new escape room in Penzance where zombies, glowing vials and moral dilemmas collide in a 90-minute game unlike anything else in Cornwall.

Welcome to ‘28 Pasties Later’

Now open at Escape Rooms Cornwall in Penzance, 28 Pasties Later puts players at the heart of a cinematic zombie outbreak triggered by a bizarre factory mishap involving the wrong bat and the wrong cow. The result? Mad Pasties Disease, a post-apocalyptic corner shop, and a game that’s more Shaun of the Dead than The Walking Dead.

With adjustable scare levels, the game blends suspense and comedy for a fun-filled experience suitable for brave families (ages 12+), couples, friends, tourists and team-building days.

“Players become the stars of their own zombie survival movie”

“We didn’t just want to build a room with puzzles – we wanted to create an immersive world where players become the stars of their own zombie survival movie,” said Alex Hart, owner and lead designer.

“From crawling through freezers to shouting distractions over the Tannoy, every moment puts you in the action. It’s dramatic, playful, and gives you the chance to be the hero – or the villain – of your own story.”

Built in Cornwall, with local creativity

Alex added: “It’s been a real team effort – from our Games Masters and student collaborators to our brilliant handyman, local actors, and everyone who helped bring the set to life. That creativity and hands-on input gives the game a personality all its own.”

Spot the zombie movie references

Fans of horror and comedy will find 15 hidden Easter eggs throughout the game, with nods to Shaun of the Dead, Resident Evil and other iconic zombie titles. Find them all and you’ll unlock a bonus surprise.

The escape room is packed with cinematic sound, infected SAS booby traps and glowing “cure” vials. It all leads up to a difficult decision at the end, where your team’s choices affect how the story finishes.

Three Games on Offer in Penzance

Escape Rooms Cornwall isn’t just about zombies. Two other games are running at the same Penzance venue:

  • The Lamorna Brown Affair: A high-stakes art-heist where your crew must steal a priceless painting while dodging lasers and security systems. Think Ocean’s Eleven, with a Cornish accent.

  • Death by Prescription: Trapped in a rogue doctor’s office, players face experimental treatments and must uncover dark secrets before becoming the next patient.

Planning your visit

28 Pasties Later runs daily at Escape Rooms Cornwall, with a recommended minimum age of 12. The game lasts 90 minutes and includes physical challenges, flashing lights and a choice of scare levels.
