Penwith Curry Houses Raise £1100 for Penlee Lifeboat
A Shared Effort for the Sea
Four curry houses across Penwith have come together this year to support the RNLI’s Penlee Lifeboat, raising £1100 to help fund the charity’s lifesaving work.
Since April, Le Raj in Penzance, India in Helston, Anglo Asia Helston and Little India in Penzance, alongside the Penwith Bengali Welfare Association (PBWA), have been fundraising in aid of Penlee Lifeboat. It marks the first time such an effort has been undertaken in the area by local curry houses and the PBWA.
Celebrating the Contribution
On 20th October 2025, members of the RNLI’s fundraising team were invited to Little India in Penzance for a light lunch to thank those involved. Mayer Akash and Alum Khan, along with their staff, were recognised for their contribution and commitment to supporting the local lifeboat station.
Rosalie Whitlock received the donation on behalf of Penlee Lifeboat and presented Little India with a thank you certificate. Penzance Mayor Cllr Stephen Reynolds and Town Clerk James Hardy were also in attendance and expressed their appreciation for the support shown to Penlee’s volunteer crew.
Fundraising for Penlee Lifeboat helps to equip the RNLI volunteers who dedicate their time to saving lives at sea.
