Penzance Invites Public to Mark 80th Anniversary of VJ Day

The public are being invited to gather at the Memorial Garden in Penlee Park, Penzance, on Friday 15th August 2025 to honour the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.

The Service of Commemoration, organised by Penzance Council, will begin at 11.50am. This will be followed by the national two-minute silence at 12 noon.

VJ Day, or Victory over Japan Day, marks the end of the Second World War in the Pacific, when Japan surrendered to the Allies in 1945.

The event in Penzance is open to all who wish to pay their respects.
