Shop Local with Rewards Scheme Launched to Support Penzance Businesses

Published On: 6 February 2026Last Updated: 6 February 2026By

Penzance BID has launched a new Shop Local with Rewards scheme aimed at supporting town centre businesses and encouraging people to shop locally during the first quarter of 2026.

The scheme comes at a time when many high streets face seasonal challenges, with Penzance businesses also dealing with disruption from the Ross Bridge Road closure, ongoing works on Market Jew Street and recent adverse weather.

How the scheme works

Local businesses are invited to take part by contributing a £5 voucher that can be spent in their shop. Businesses can choose to offer a higher value voucher or multiple vouchers if they wish.

Each week, a winner will be randomly selected from shoppers who nominate their favourite Penzance shop and tag a friend on Facebook or Instagram. Winners will receive a £5 voucher to spend at one of the participating businesses.

Promoting Penzance shops

Businesses taking part will be promoted across Penzance BID’s social media channels. Weekly spotlight posts will feature photographs of the winning shops and their vouchers, with the aim of encouraging footfall and helping shoppers discover different areas of Penzance and businesses they may not usually visit.

How long it will run

The scheme will run until the end of March, offering sustained promotion during what is often a difficult trading period. Vouchers will be valid for two weeks from the date of each draw. The final draw will take place in mid-March, with redemptions running through to just before Easter.

Sarah Shaw, Director of Penzance BID, said:
“This scheme is about keeping things simple and positive at a time when our businesses are facing real challenges. By rewarding shoppers for supporting local retailers, we are helping to drive footfall, showcase the brilliant range of shops we have here in Penzance, and strengthen our local economy. It is a great example of the community coming together to support one another.”

Penzance BID is encouraging retailers to get involved and help make the first quarter of 2026 a celebration of local shopping, community spirit and the businesses that make Penzance a distinctive place to shop.
