Whose Clothes Were Left on the Penzance Seafront? Police Appeal for Help
Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the owner of a distinctive set of clothing found on the coast path in Penzance yesterday, Tuesday 10th June.
Clothes Found Near Bus and Train Stations
Officers were patrolling the area when they came across the clothing shortly after 5pm. The clothes were located on a footpath known as White Wall, which runs alongside Wharf Road near Penzance’s bus and railway stations.
The collection included both dry and wet clothing. Among the items was a hooded sweatshirt sized for an 11 to 12-year-old and distinctive footwear, which officers believe may help identify the owner.
Coastguard Search Found No One in the Water
Police Sergeant Daniel Roberts said:
“The Coastguard was deployed both on the water and land area, but their search for any injured or submerged persons proved negative.”
He added:
“It is entirely possible that the wearer of the clothes merely left the clothing at the location having changed into other clothing, leaving them behind.”
However, police are keen to make contact with the owner to make sure no one has come to harm.
“We would like to find the owner of the clothing to ensure that nobody has found themselves in difficulty when entering the water,” Daniel said.
Can You Help?
Anyone who recognises the clothing or has information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or visiting the Devon and Cornwall Police website and quoting log 575 of 10th June.
