Penzance hub features diverse local art until the end of November

Art enthusiasts have the opportunity to experience a broad range of local creativity at the Winter Exhibition, hosted by PZ Studios at the Wharfside Art Hub, located in Unit 5 of the Wharfside Centre in Penzance. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the exhibition will run until the 30th of November, displaying works from 45 local artists.

A Celebration of Diverse Artistic Styles

The exhibition features a vibrant collection of mediums, including portraits, landscapes, prints, drawings, ceramics, stone carvings, photography, and large sculptures, all contributing to an eclectic and captivating display of talent from Penzance and the surrounding area. This dynamic range of work reflects PZ Studios’ commitment to promoting Penzance as a thriving artist community. Founded in September 2018 by a small group of dedicated local artists, the group operates as a volunteer-led organisation aiming to position Penzance as a prominent art destination.

Community Support and Future Expansion

Wharfside Art Hub, the venue for this exhibition, has been generously provided by the owners of the Wharfside Centre, offering an invaluable space for local artists. The hub also serves as a focal point for attracting both businesses and visitors to the area. Plans for future expansion include a potential move to a larger space within the centre, formerly the New Look premises, thanks to the support of Tom Marsden, director of the Wharfside Centre, and funding from Penzance Town Council.

Support from Penzance Town Council

The exhibition and future plans have received further support from Penzance Council. Mayor of Penzance, Stephen Reynolds, stated, “Penzance Council are pleased to support PZ Studios with a grant of £998, which will be used to purchase portable MDF display boards and extra lighting for a new pop-up gallery space in Wharfside Shopping Centre. The art community is thriving in the parish of Penzance, and this new gallery has the potential to raise the profile of hundreds of artists over the next two years by offering an affordable space to showcase their work, whilst at the same time bringing footfall back into an empty retail unit.”
