House Day Brings Fundraising and Teamwork to Pool Academy

Students at Pool Academy, part of the Athena Learning Trust, came together for the first House Day of the year, marking the occasion with competitions, teamwork and fundraising.

A Colour Challenge to Start the Day

The day began with a house challenge for Porthtowan House, where students were asked to bring in green items to earn points. The response saw thousands of points added to the house total.

Breaktime Donations Boost the Score

At breaktime, students and staff supported a donation station, collecting more than 80 boxes of cereal for Transformation CPR Food Bank. The donations earned hundreds more points for Porthtowan House.

Basketball Match Draws a Crowd

Lunchtime featured a year 11 basketball match, with spectators donating tins and money to watch. After a closely contested game, Porthtowan House finished as the winners.

Thanks from the School

The school thanked students, staff and parents who donated, took part and supported the event, helping to create a strong start to the House Day calendar.

Mark Fuller, Head of Porthtowan House at Pool Academy, said:

“It was wonderful to see our students come together for a day of fun, teamwork, and giving back. House Day is a fantastic way to celebrate community spirit while supporting important causes, and I’m proud of everyone who took part.”
