Pool Academy is celebrating a standout year of GCSE success, with students collecting their results today, Thursday 21st August, and looking ahead to bright futures.

Outstanding Student Achievements

The school is particularly proud of Nikita F, who secured grade 9s in every subject alongside a distinction. Nikita will continue his studies at Truro, taking A Levels in Chemistry, Biology, and Maths. His ambition is to become an orthodontist, and these exceptional results mark the first step towards that goal.

Fellow student Akiri also celebrated a strong set of results, achieving 5 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s. He will also move on to Truro, studying Computer Science, Photography, 3D Design, and Maths. His aim is to pursue software development at university, with a particular interest in website development.

Strong School Performance

This year, Pool Academy's 103 students achieved a higher Attainment 8 score of 40.6%, improving on 36.7 in 2024 and 37.9 in 2023.

Other key improvements included:

  • 61% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths (up from 54% in 2024 and 49% in 2023).

  • 40% of students achieved grade 5 or above in both English and maths (up from 30% in 2024 and 27% in 2023).

  • 11% achieved both English and maths at grade 7 or higher (up from 6% in 2024 and 3% in 2023).

These figures highlight the school's commitment to high expectations, strong teaching, and pastoral care.
