Man jailed for stabbing at property in Roche

A confrontation in Roche ended with a man stabbed in the chest and a jail sentence for 33 year old Jack Clark

A man has been jailed for 27 months after stabbing a victim in the chest at a property in Cornwall.

Jack Clark, 33, of St Mary’s Road, Par, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentencing on Friday 12th December after pleading guilty to wounding and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

What Happened in Roche

The court heard how on 31st March 2023 a group of people were socialising at a friend’s address in Roche.

At around 2am there was banging at the door and two women pushed their way inside, shouting abuse and demanding to confront someone in the property.

The victim attempted to get the women to leave and shortly after was confronted outside by Jack. One of the women then punched the victim in the face. Following a further exchange, Jack brandished a knife and stabbed the man in the chest.

The victim was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital before being transported to Derriford for treatment for a four inch stab wound to the breastbone.

Court Findings

Jack was arrested and made no comment in interview. He later denied bringing the knife to the scene, but a judge dismissed his version of events.

DC Emily Rickard, the officer in the case, said:
“Jack Clark armed himself and travelled to the address in which a number of people were socialising, knowing full well an altercation was likely.
“He purposefully stabbed the victim in the chest and it is only down to pure luck and a matter of inches that this didn’t become a murder investigation.
“Anybody who carries a knife and brandishes it runs the risk of devastating numerous lives as well as their own.”
