Would You Sleep in a Kennel? Volunteers Brave the Cold for RSPCA Cornwall
A dedicated group of volunteers spent a night in the kennels at RSPCA Cornwall, experiencing what rescue dogs go through every night – all in the name of raising funds and awareness.
A Night in the Dog House
Leanne, along with the team from King’s Service Centre and Pets at Home St Austell, took part in the ‘In The Dog House’ Kennel Sleepover on Friday, 28th February. They endured the cold, the sounds, and the confinement, stepping into the paws of rescue dogs waiting for their second chance.
The event, held in RSPCA Cornwall’s new kennel block, gave participants an insight into the reality of life for the dogs in their care. Spending the night in unfamiliar surroundings, without human companionship, the volunteers gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by rescue animals every day.
Close to Their Goal – Can You Help?
Thanks to generous supporters, the team is close to reaching their £2,000 fundraising goal. Every donation will go towards improving kennel facilities and ensuring mistreated, neglected, and unwanted animals have the best environment possible while they wait for their forever homes.
RSPCA Cornwall is urging the community to help push the fundraiser over the finish line. Donations can be made via JustGiving.
Why It Matters
All funds raised from the sleepover will help the charity continue its mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome hundreds of animals each year. The new kennels provide much-needed improvements, and with continued support, older kennel blocks can also be upgraded to offer a more comfortable space for dogs in need.
Want to make a difference? Support the kennel sleepover volunteers and help give these dogs a second chance.
