Saltash Beating the Bounds 2024
Saltash Town Council is once again hosting the traditional Beating the Bounds event on Saturday, 28th September, offering a unique chance to explore the town’s historic boundary stones on a five-mile walk. With tickets selling fast, participants are encouraged to secure theirs soon.
A Historic Walk Through Saltash
The event, which begins at 10:30 am from the bridleway next to Waitrose, will take walkers across Saltash’s boundary, led by a local historian. A key feature of the walk is the traditional ‘bumping’ of the Mayor on each boundary stone, with local ministers blessing each stone as it is passed.
Participants will finish the walk by taking a train from St Germans to Isambard House, where a cream tea will be served, included in the ticket price.
Tickets and Key Details
Tickets for Beating the Bounds are available for £5 per adult and £1 for those aged 16 and under, with the cream tea included. However, the train fare is not covered, and attendees will need to purchase their own tickets for the journey back to Saltash. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.
Booking is essential, and tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite, or in person at the Saltash Library Hub and the Guildhall.
Practical Information
Attendees are advised to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the walk and to bring along refreshments and snacks. The Town Council has provided a Risk Assessment for the event, available on their website and notice boards, which participants are encouraged to review before attending.
With ticket sales ending soon, don’t miss the chance to join this historical and engaging community event!
