South West Water Unveils Art-Decorated Van to Connect with Local Communities
South West Water has unveiled its latest venture to connect with customers across Devon and Cornwall, launching a new customer van adorned with artwork celebrating the region’s iconic landmarks.
A Canvas on Wheels
The van’s vibrant exterior, designed by local artist Anna Fitzgerald, showcases the beauty and spirit of the South West. Known for her expressive and community-focused art, Anna has brought to life scenes from across the region, including Powderham Castle, Plymouth Hoe, Lands’ End, cider orchards, and wartime dugouts. These images were carefully chosen to reflect what makes Devon and Cornwall unique and beloved by its residents.
“I’m a passionate community artist and love collaborating with businesses who want to engage the public in new and imaginative ways,” Anna said. “The South West region has such a unique spirit, which is why working with South West Water on this great opportunity was a truly fun and explorative process for us all.”
Taking Customer Engagement on the Road
The van isn’t just a moving work of art – it’s also a mobile customer service centre. South West Water is using the vehicle to bring its team directly to the community, providing opportunities for customers to meet with experts, ask questions, and learn more about the company’s ongoing and future projects. This initiative is part of South West Water’s broader strategy to increase its presence and accessibility within the communities it serves.
Dani Twelvetree, Head of Customer Communication and Engagement at South West Water, expressed enthusiasm about the van’s role in enhancing customer relations. “We are very excited to introduce our customer van, which gives us a chance to meet with our customers and for our team of passionate colleagues to connect with people face to face, understand their priorities and learn more about what matters most to them,” Dani said.
Since December, the van has been part of 15 community roadshows across Cornwall and Devon, engaging with around 650 customers. This hands-on approach is aimed at showing customers how much South West Water values their input and is committed to the communities where they live and work.
Continuing the Journey
South West Water is inviting suggestions for future locations where the van can visit, encouraging customers to reach out and bring the service to their local area. Those interested can contact the team via email at WaterFuture@southwestwater.co.uk.
As the van continues its tour, it will serve as a travelling testament to the region’s rich heritage and a bridge between South West Water and the communities it serves.
