‘Ams’ Move Up to Third
Bideford 21 – Pirates Amateurs 31
Travelling to play Bideford away the in-form Pirates Amateurs, who emerged winners and now move up to third in the Counties 1 Tribute Western West league table, were not though at their best.
A win on the road, however, is never easy, and in the process securing a bonus point victory in Devon was, of course, nonetheless, welcome.
Tries for the Pirates at Bideford’s King George’s Field were scored by fly-half Oscar Marr, his halfback partner Sam Carter, centre Josh Semmens, wing Jake Hole, and full-back Ben Wragg, who also slotted three conversions.
Speaking after the game Pirates Amateurs’ head coach Murray Westren said:
“In what was a scrappy game, although not at our best we managed to at least come away with bonus point win.
“Hopefully, the realisation of our performance will now see us work hard in training this week, ahead of tough Cup game against higher league side Truro at home on Saturday.”
