Pirates Forced to Move Home Game Again as Bounce Back Test Looms

After a tough 44 to 12 defeat away at Doncaster Knights last Saturday, Cornish Pirates will be looking to respond quickly when they face London Scottish this weekend.

The Round 16 Championship clash will see the Pirates hosting London Scottish in what is a ninth versus thirteenth meeting in the table.

Venue and kick off details

Supporters heading to the game should note that, for the second home fixture in a row, the match will not be played at the Mennaye Field in Penzance.

Damage caused by Storm Goretti last month means the game will once again take place at Camborne RFC. The fixture is also scheduled for Sunday, with a 2pm kick off.

Changes to the Pirates line up

The Pirates have made several changes for the visit of London Scottish.

Angus Mawson is named at full back. The young Australian has previously made one appearance for the club as a replacement and has also gained game time while on loan at Redruth.

Starts are also handed to fly half Louie Sinclair, wing Ben Cambriani and flanker Luke Ratcliff.

At scrum half, Dan Hiscocks will mark a personal milestone, with Sunday’s match being his 50th appearance for the Pirates in under two seasons.

Gavin looks for response

Speaking ahead of the game, joint head coach Gavin Cattle said the performance at Doncaster had been frustrating and stressed the importance of a response this weekend.

He said the Pirates needed to learn from the experience and show supporters what the team is about, adding that London Scottish can be a dangerous side.

Gavin also pointed out that the Pirates are not many points adrift in league terms and that the squad’s ambition remains unchanged as they look to keep picking up the wins needed.
