Cornish Pirates to Host Talent ID Day for Young Athletes at Camborne College
Testing the Future of Cornish Rugby
Young athletes across Cornwall are being invited to put their skills to the test at the Cornish Pirates’ first-ever Talent ID Day, taking place at Camborne College on Wednesday 27th August.
Open to both boys and girls aged 15 to 18, the session promises a morning of elite-level rugby testing, with assessments on strength, skill, speed and stamina. Whether you’re already playing for a school or club — or simply believe you’ve got what it takes — this is your chance to be seen by the pros.
Cornish Pirates coaches, players and analysts will be on hand to evaluate performance and offer insight into how young people can develop their talents.
“This is for any young people whether they play rugby or not”
Speaking about the event, Cornish Pirates CEO Sally Pettipher said:
“There is so much talent in Cornwall, and this is for any young people whether they play rugby or not. We expect that most will already play in schools or clubs and would like to test themselves, get some experience of elite rugby testing, and return to club and school with new insight on their talents.”
A Platform for All Playing Styles
Lee Missons, School Rugby Manager at Cornwall College, added:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to see this Talent ID Day come to life. Cornwall has always been a hotbed for rugby talent, and events like this give young players the perfect platform to show what they’re made of. Rugby is a game for everyone – whatever your background or playing style. So, this is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself, meet like-minded players, and most importantly, to showcase your abilities in front of a professional setup.”
