Goalkeeper signs on as club prepares for debut in National League

Truro City have confirmed that goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe has signed a new contract with the club ahead of the 2025/26 National League campaign.

The 28-year-old played every minute of last season, making 48 appearances across league and cup fixtures as the Tinners were crowned National League South champions.

Debut season success

Dan joined Truro 12 months ago from Taunton Town, who were relegated to Step Three at the end of the 2023/24 season. His first year with the Cornish side proved to be a memorable one as Truro earned promotion and became the first Cornish team to play in the National League.

Speaking to trurocity.co.uk, Dan said:

“I’m very happy and it is an exciting time to be at Truro after what happened last year. We are the first Cornish team to play in the National League, so I am looking forward to next year.”

Big step up ahead

The club is preparing for a tougher challenge as it moves up the footballing ladder, but Dan is confident in the squad’s ability.

“Next year will be a big step up and the league we are going in will be a lot tougher, but we have a few lads that have played higher (up the footballing pyramid), so we will need everyone to move forward to pull through.”

Crowd support praised

Reflecting on how far the team has come, Dan said:

“It is a bit chalk and cheese really compared to last year. It is a completely different feeling, I am really enjoying my football and hopefully I can continue for a long time.”

“Nobody knew what to expect when we came back (to Truro), so to have the crowds we have had is amazing. In the tough games, the fans really pulled us through, got us extra points in tough games towards the end of season.”

Dan began his career at Torquay United and has also had spells at Wigan Athletic, AFC Fylde and FC United of Manchester. Like many of his teammates, the move to Truro has marked a return to full-time football.

Truro fans will be pleased to see one of last season’s standout players returning between the sticks as the club enters a historic new chapter.
