Royal Support for Truro City as Prince of Wales Sends Good Luck Message

Truro City captain Connor Riley-Lowe has received a message of encouragement from His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales ahead of the club’s first National League season.

A Historic Moment for the Tinners

Yesterday, Connor received a letter from the Prince’s private secretary, Ian Patrick MBE, wishing him and the team success as they prepare for their home match against York next Saturday. The message comes as Truro City marks its debut campaign in the National League, making history as Cornwall’s first professional football team.

Backing from the Duke of Cornwall

The Prince, who is also the Duke of Cornwall alongside Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales, has a strong connection to football. Until last year, he served as President of the Football Association and now holds the role of patron at the governing body of the sport in England.

In the letter, Ian Patrick wrote:

“The Duke of Cornwall has asked me to write ahead of your home match against York on Saturday next week.

“The Duke knows that you have only just returned home after a few years away, and like everyone else in Cornwall, will be cheering you on.

“Prince William has asked me to pass on his warmest congratulations in getting promoted to the National League as Cornwall’s first professional team.

“This comes with the Duke of Cornwall’s very best wishes. Good luck to the Tinners.”

This royal show of support adds to the anticipation surrounding next week’s fixture, as fans look forward to seeing their team compete at this new level.
