They’re Not Going Anywhere: Cornish Pirates Secure Billy & Buster for 2025/26 Season

Two more key names confirmed

Just days after announcing that Dan Hiscocks and Josh King have signed on for another year, the Cornish Pirates have confirmed two more important players will stay with the club for the 2025/26 campaign.

Prop Billy Young and lock Charlie ‘Buster’ Rice have both committed their futures to the team, adding to a growing list of re-signings as the Pirates look to build consistency and momentum heading into next season.

Billy Young: Man of the Match and Making His Mark

Billy, aged 25, is in his second season with the Pirates and has already made 29 appearances for the team. His form hasn’t gone unnoticed – he was named man of the match against Caldy last Saturday and recently featured in the Championship team of the week, selected by the Championship Clubs Podcast.

Sharing his thoughts on signing a new deal, Billy said:

“I’m delighted to be involved for another season with the Cornish Pirates. It’s a great club with fantastic support and I truly believe we are building something special for next season.”

Charlie Rice: Building on a Breakthrough Year

Charlie, also known to fans as ‘Buster’, is just 23 and has shown impressive progress in the past year. After making a single appearance for the Pirates last season, the Bristol-born lock has since racked up 19 more, scoring one try along the way.

Charlie commented:

“I am really excited for next season! There is a great culture at the club and some great lads here, so I’m delighted to be amongst that for at least another year. It’s a privilege to play for this club and pull on that jersey.”
