Truro strengthens squad with experienced goalkeeper

Truro City have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Aidan Stone on a one-year deal, with an option to extend, subject to Football Association clearance.

The 26-year-old joins from divisional rivals Yeovil Town, having ended last season as the Glovers’ number one after signing in February. Born in Stafford, Aidan is a former England Schoolboy international who began his professional career at Premier League side Burnley.

A solid league background

While at Turf Moor, Aidan gained valuable experience on loan at Lancaster before making a permanent move to Mansfield Town in 2019. His career has since spanned clubs across the English Football League and National League, including spells with the Stags, Port Vale, and Notts County.

Last season, he made 13 appearances on loan at Boston United from Notts County before heading to Yeovil.

“Something I wanted to get done”

Speaking to trurocity.co.uk, Aidan said:

“The new season is just round the corner so when I knew there was an opportunity to come here, I jumped at it.”

“The manager spoke to me at length and I have been in regular contact with Phil (Osborn, goalkeeping coach), so this is something I wanted to get done.”

“I know a few of the lads here already and they spoke about the project and what has been going on over the past year. This is certainly something that aligns with what I want to do.”

“Hopefully I can add bits to the group and thrive in this kind of environment, as I’m only 26, which is young for a goalkeeper. To have experience behind me, is something that will only help me and the team on the training ground and matchday.”

Truro City’s new signing comes just as the club prepares for the upcoming season, with fans now eager to see how the experienced keeper will fit into the squad.
