RNLI Buoy to Beacon Swim Run Returns to St Agnes This September
The RNLI’s adrenaline-pumping Buoy to Beacon Swim Run is back for 2025, calling on swimmers and runners to push themselves across the dramatic coast of St Agnes, all in aid of lifesaving work.
A Test of Endurance with a View
Taking place on Saturday 13th September, the challenge kicks off at Trevaunance Cove, where participants will dive into a 1,000m open-water swim, heading out to a marker buoy and back. Once out of the water, there’s no time to rest — the route continues straight into a 5km run up the rugged and iconic St Agnes Beacon, before descending back to the beach.
It’s a scenic but demanding course set against some of Cornwall’s most stunning coastal landscapes.
Every Stroke and Step Counts
Those taking part are encouraged to set up sponsorship pages and raise funds to support the RNLI’s essential work, which includes both lifeguard patrols and volunteer lifeboat crews.
Esther Farrant, RNLI Community Manager and event organiser, said:
‘The Buoy-to-Beacon Swim-Run is more than just a physical challenge; it’s a chance to connect with our incredible coastline and directly support the lifesavers who keep us safe.
Every stroke and every step taken by our participants reflect the sponsorship funds that help ensure our volunteer crews have the training and equipment they need to answer the call, day or night.’
BBQ Reward and Local Support
The event is supported by St Agnes Surf Life Saving Club, who will also be hosting a BBQ at Trevaunance Cove — a well-earned treat after a tough morning of physical effort.
Entry Details
Entry is £30, or £24 for Under-18s, and all participants are encouraged to raise additional money through sponsorship.
