Time Running Out: Will You Brave the RNLI’s Buoy to Beacon Swim Run in St Agnes?
The RNLI has issued a final call for entries to take on the Buoy to Beacon Swim Run challenge, which takes place in St Agnes on Saturday 13th September.
This unique event will see participants test their stamina across one of Cornwall’s most striking coastal settings, all in support of the RNLI’s lifesaving mission.
Swim, Run, Conquer the Beacon
Starting at Trevaunance Cove, competitors will begin with a 1,000m open-water swim out to the marker buoy and back. The race then continues into a demanding 5km run, climbing the iconic St Agnes Beacon before descending back to the cove.
Every participant is asked to set up a sponsorship page to raise money for the RNLI, with every donation supporting the charity’s vital work, from its lifeguard service to volunteer lifeboat crews.
A Challenge with Purpose
Event organiser and RNLI Community Manager Esther Farrant said:
“The Buoy-to-Beacon Swim-Run is more than just a physical challenge; it’s a chance to connect with our incredible coastline and directly support the lifesavers who keep us safe.
Every stroke and every step taken by our participants reflect the sponsorship funds that help ensure our volunteer crews have the training and equipment they need to answer the call, day or night.”
Community Support
The event is proudly supported by the St Agnes Surf Life Saving Club, who will be hosting a BBQ at Trevaunance Cove, offering competitors a well-earned reward after their efforts in the water and on land.
How to Take Part
Entry costs £30 for adults and £24 for under-18s. Registration closes soon, and spaces are limited.
