Cornwall Council Announces Road Improvement Works in St Austell
Cornwall Council has announced an extensive schedule of road improvements for Truro Road and Edgcumbe Road in St Austell, starting from Monday, 18 March to 30 April 2024.
The project, managed by Cormac Ltd., a division of Corserv, aims to enhance the traffic flow and safety by replacing the outdated traffic signals.
Residents and commuters are advised to prepare for temporary road closures and altered traffic patterns during this period. The council has outlined a phased approach to the roadworks to minimise disruptions:
- PHASE 1: From 18 March to 2 April, Truro Road will see the installation of three-way traffic lights.
- PHASE 2: From 3 to 30 April, the focus will shift to Edgcumbe Road, where three-way traffic lights will also be implemented.
- PHASE 3: From 1 to 7 May, there will be no road closure, but four-way traffic lights will be in place to facilitate the completion of the scheme.
The council and Cormac Ltd. are committed to reducing the impact on the local community and have promised to implement measures to manage traffic effectively during the construction. They also encourage those with questions or concerns about the work to reach out via email at enquiries@cornwallhighways.co.uk.
The improvement works are part of Cornwall Council’s ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade the region’s infrastructure, ensuring safer and more efficient roads for all users. The council thanks residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation during this essential period of enhancement.
