Published On: 1 September 2024Last Updated: 1 September 2024By

In a heartfelt farewell, the St Austell Coastguard Rescue Team bid goodbye to their Station Officer, Dennis, who has dedicated 35 years of service to HM Coastguard. On his final day, colleagues gathered to honour his remarkable contribution to the local community and the countless visitors he helped protect.

A Legacy of Service

Dennis, a long-serving member of the St Austell Coastguard, officially retired this week, marking the end of an era. After more than three decades of responding to emergencies along the coastline of St Austell and the surrounding areas, Dennis has decided to hang up his boots and embark on the next chapter of his life.

To commemorate his dedication, the team organised a farewell gathering, complete with plenty of tea and cake—a fitting tribute for someone who has been a cornerstone of the St Austell CRT for so many years. The event was attended by his fellow team members and the Senior Coastal Operations Officer, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the entire service.

A Royal Honour

In addition to the team’s well-wishes, Dennis was presented with the King’s Coronation medal by the Senior Coastal Operations Officer. This prestigious award was given in recognition of his outstanding service and the personal sacrifices he made throughout his 35-year tenure.

Looking to the Future

As Dennis steps into retirement, the St Austell Coastguard Rescue Team expressed their deep appreciation for everything he has brought to the team. His commitment and dedication have left an indelible mark on the community, and his presence will undoubtedly be missed by his colleagues and the many lives he touched.

The entire team at St Austell CRT wishes Dennis all the best for his future endeavours.
