Fear for St Erth’s Parks: Parish Council Urges Public to Help Stop Vandalism

Public Toilets, Play Parks and Youth Shelter Targeted

A rise in vandalism and graffiti in St Erth has left the Parish Council counting the cost—both financially and socially. Over the past few months, graffiti has been reported across multiple community areas, including the public toilets, Battery Mill play park, and the Youth Shelter in Green Lane park.

The damage isn’t just cosmetic. This week, a gate and a bench in the recently opened Nature Park area were also vandalised, adding to growing concerns about the misuse of local spaces.

Community Budget Hit by Clean-Up Costs

The Parish Council warned that fixing and cleaning up the damage comes directly from their budget—funds which ultimately come from the precept paid by residents.

Seen Something? Say Something

Residents are being urged to report any incidents directly to the police. You can report vandalism online at: https://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us-beta/contact-us/report-crime-incident-suspicion/report-vandalism-graffiti

If you have any information about who might be responsible, you can either contact the police or get in touch with the Parish Council in confidence at: clerk@sterth-pc.gov.uk

“This all costs money to clean up and fix, which comes from the Parish Council budget and therefore the precept you pay,” the council stated in a recent post.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant and help protect St Erth’s shared spaces.
