Date Confirmed For Historic St Ives Harbour Swim
The much-anticipated St Ives Harbour Swim is making its return on Sunday, 13th October 2024. This historic event, which dates back to the 1870s, originally saw local youngsters competing for the prestigious Town Cup. Revived in 2009 by a small committee, it has since become a cherished tradition for the community, offering an afternoon of fun and friendly competition.
Entry Criteria and Age Categories
This year’s swim remains exclusive to residents of St Ives, with entrants required to have a permanent address within the TR26 postcode. There are no exceptions to this rule, ensuring that the event remains a celebration of local spirit and camaraderie.
Participants will compete in various age groups, with both male and female categories available:
- Town Cup: Ages 16 and over
- 40+ Category: For swimmers aged 40 and above
- 8/9 Years: A dedicated race for the youngest competitors
- 10/11 Years
- 12/13 Years
- 14/15 Years
Special Recognition with the Endeavour Cup
In addition to the standard categories, the Endeavour Cup will be presented in memory of Sgt. Paul Fox. This special award, selected by the organisers on the day.
