Edward Hain Centre Launches Round Two of Trustee Recruitment: Who Will Join Next?

Published On: 23 October 2024Last Updated: 23 October 2024By

The Edward Hain Centre for Health and Wellbeing is seeking fresh talent for its Board of Trustees as the second phase of recruitment begins. This follows the successful appointment of two new trustees in the first round earlier this year, who brought valuable skills in legal and property management. Now, the Centre is looking to further strengthen its leadership team with trustees who have expertise in financial management, business accounting, charity governance, and grant fundraising.

Meet The New Trustees

Alan Bennetts

Recently retired lawyer. Previously of the City of London Corporation, latterly as head of commercial property in the legal department.

Helen O’Riordan

Chartered Surveyor. Specialising in the rural property sector with a background in valuation, planning and development. Also a great-great niece of Capt. Edward Hain.

The Centre’s Vision: Improving Community Health

The Edward Hain Centre, which is still rapidly growing, plays a key role in delivering vital health and wellbeing services to the local community. By joining the Board of Trustees, new members will help shape the Centre’s future, ensuring that its objectives and operational plans align with the vision to improve lives across St. Ives and beyond.

The Centre is particularly interested in applicants who are passionate about community care and want to be part of an exciting time of development. Whether local or remote, potential trustees are encouraged to apply as the board conducts hybrid meetings, allowing for flexibility in attendance.

Skills in Demand

The Centre is on the lookout for individuals with specific knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Financial Management/Business Accounting
  • Charity Governance: Senior-level charity management or leadership experience
  • Grant Fundraising: Familiarity with grants in the health and community care sectors

Ideal candidates will have experience working at a board level and leading organisations through senior management roles or committee work. As trustees, they will ensure that the Centre’s growth aligns with its charitable objectives.

A Voluntary Role with a Big Impact

Trusteeship at the Edward Hain Centre is a voluntary position, requiring a commitment of around 2-3 hours per month for board meetings, which are currently held on a monthly basis. Additional workshops and strategy meetings may be scheduled to further engage trustees in the Centre’s ongoing projects. Meetings are held in-person at the Centre in St. Ives, but those who can’t attend in person can join via Teams.
