New Dog Control Orders in St Ives Coming In July: Check Which Beaches Are Affected
Cornwall Council has announced changes to Dog Control Orders, impacting several popular beaches in St Ives.
Starting 1st July, these new regulations will place restrictions on dogs at specific times and locations throughout the summer months.
Beach Restrictions: What’s New?
From 1st July to 31st August, dogs will be banned from St Ives Harbour and Porthgwidden beach between 10am and 6pm. This period aligns with peak tourist season, aiming to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all beachgoers.
In addition, from 15th May to 30th September, the following beaches will also be off-limits to dogs during the same hours:
- Carbis Bay
- Porthmeor
- Porthminster
Where Dogs Are Still Welcome In St Ives
For dog owners looking for pet-friendly spots, there are several beaches where dogs are welcome all year round:
- Lambeth Walk
- Bamaluz Beach
- North side of Smeaton’s Pier (with level access)
These locations provide alternatives for dog owners to enjoy beach time with their pets without breaching the new regulations.
