St Ives Surf Life Saving Club Moves into New Home at Porthmeor

St Ives Surf Life Saving Club has officially moved into a new home at the former Porthmeor Bowling Club House, with the keys handed over by Johnnie Wells, Mayor of St Ives. The announcement was made 18 hours ago by St Ives Town Council, marking a significant step for the club, which has been training generations in essential water safety skills.

A Perfect Location for Training

The club, which plays a key role in teaching children and young people how to stay safe in the sea, now has a base near its training area. This move ensures the club can continue its vital work while offering members a dedicated space.

Duncan Wilson and Christine Simpson, speaking on behalf of the club, expressed their gratitude:

“Many thanks to St Ives Town Council, we are thrilled to have such an amazing space to use as our community clubhouse and look forward to welcoming our members to their new home.”

Part of the St Ives Devolution Project

The move is part of the ongoing devolution project in St Ives, where land and buildings are being transferred from Cornwall Council to St Ives Town Council. This effort is aimed at making more spaces available for community groups and businesses, ensuring they remain in local hands for future generations.

With its new clubhouse secured, St Ives Surf Life Saving Club is set to continue its mission of equipping the next generation with essential life-saving skills right by the water.
