The date and headline support have now been confirmed for one of Cornwall’s best known summer sporting events, with the St Ives Biathlon returning on Saturday 6th June 2026.

The event is organised by St Ives Surf Life Saving Club, who have confirmed that Cornish Riviera Holidays will return as headline sponsor for a second year running.

A milestone year for the biathlon

The 2026 event will mark the 28th St Ives Biathlon and also coincides with the 68th anniversary of St Ives Surf Life Saving Club. The biathlon is the club’s flagship fundraising event and has become a firm fixture in Cornwall’s summer calendar.

Chris Simpson, Chair of St Ives Surf Life Saving Club and Biathlon Event Lead, said the club is excited to confirm the date and grateful to Cornish Riviera Holidays for continuing their support. He highlighted the sponsor’s involvement during the 2025 event, from themed branding and jute bags for entrants to starting the main race and presenting medals as swimmers emerged on the slipway.

Sponsor backing confirmed again

Andy Dale, Co-Director of Cornish Riviera Holidays, described the St Ives Biathlon as a fantastic annual event that draws large crowds to the town, with spectators lining the route and harbour. He said the company is extremely proud to support the event again and thanked everyone involved in organising it.

Matt Nellyer, also Co-Director of Cornish Riviera Holidays, said the sponsorship helps both the growing event and St Ives Surf Life Saving Club itself. He explained that the club trains future lifeguards and lifesavers, helping to keep people safe in the water, and added that supporting the biathlon is part of the company’s commitment to the local community.

Entries opening soon

Duncan Wilson, Treasurer for St Ives Surf Life Saving Club and one of the biathlon organisers, said that with thanks to Cornish Riviera Holidays, key elements of the 2026 event are already coming together. With the date now set, he confirmed that online entries will open soon, encouraging people to keep an eye on the club’s social media channels.

Who can take part

The St Ives Biathlon attracts competitors from across Cornwall, the UK and further afield, many of whom return year after year. Categories include the Main Event for those aged 17+, Novice, Juniors aged 12 to 16, Vets aged 40 to 49, Super Vets aged 50 to 59, and Senior Vets aged 60+.

With large crowds lining the harbour and coast path each year, the event involves much of the St Ives community and reaches a wide audience through participants, spectators, sponsors and publicity before, during and after the day itself.
