St Ives Lifeboat Volunteer Paul Le Bas Achieves Lifeboat Navigator Status
St Ives RNLI is celebrating a significant achievement within its volunteer team. Paul Le Bas, a dedicated member of the crew, has successfully qualified as an All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) Navigator after investing considerable personal time in studying and training.
A Pivotal Role in Search and Rescue
The navigator role is crucial for every ALB launch and exercise, requiring extensive training and expertise. Paul demonstrated his proficiency in SAR (search and rescue) navigation, showcasing his skills with complex charts, radar, AIS, GPS, buoyage, passage planning, and search patterns.
