Win Big and Support Community Health with the Friends of Edward Hain Centre

The ‘Friends’ of the new Edward Hain Centre for Health and Wellbeing in St. Ives has launched a 50/50 club, offering participants the chance to win attractive monthly cash prizes while simultaneously supporting the centre’s mission to enhance community health services.

A Thriving Community Initiative

Named the ‘Friends’ of Edward Hain Centre, formerly known as the League of Friends for the Edward Hain Hospital, this group has been pivotal in transforming the old hospital into a beacon of health and wellbeing with their persistent fundraising efforts. The 50/50 club is their latest venture aimed at securing funds for the centre, which now provides a broad spectrum of health and wellness services to the St. Ives community and beyond.

How Does the 50/50 Club Work?

Each member of the 50/50 club contributes £5 monthly per ticket. Draws are held on the first day of each month, selecting three lucky winners who split 50% of the total pool. The remaining 50% directly benefits the Edward Hain Centre. This setup not only gives back to the donors in a substantial way but also consistently supports the centre’s funding. As of the latest draw, the prize breakdown for the winners was £150 for first place, £75 for second place, and £25 for third place, contingent on membership numbers.

Open to All

One of the key features of the 50/50 club is its inclusivity. “It’s not just for the local community,” says Kit Grindstaff, a trustee of the Edward Hain Centre. “Anyone over the age of 16 from anywhere in Britain can join and contribute to this cause.” This openness is part of a broader strategy to engage a wide audience in supporting the centre’s array of services, which includes everything from medical and clinical care to preventive programs aimed at improving overall wellbeing.

March Winners and Future Aspirations

The first draw of the club saw Adrian and Julie emerge as winners, a delightful start to what promises to be a “brilliant ongoing fundraiser,” in Kit’s words. The administrators are pleased with the smooth operation of the club’s initial phase and are eager to expand membership. “We would love to get membership up to at least 100,” shares Angela Walker, a ‘Friends’ member and the former Chair. With each membership increment, the prize pool and the centre’s funding portion increase, enhancing the potential benefits of the club.

Joining the Club

Interested parties are encouraged to email 5050club@edwardhaincentre.org.uk to join. Prospective members will receive all necessary instructions and bank details to set up their contributions. To participate in May’s draw, setups must be completed by April 29th. Once registered, members need not take any further action; their numbers are automatically entered in every subsequent monthly draw.

An Opportunity to Make a Difference

The Edward Hain Centre stands at a pivotal point, with the potential for extensive community impact through its health and wellbeing services. The success of the 50/50 club could play a crucial role in the centre’s future, particularly as they eye broader renovations and expansions. The centre and its supporters are optimistic about what they can achieve with the backing of a thousand members, not just a hundred.
