English National Surfing Championships Cancelled: What Happens Next?

The 2025 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships, due to take place this weekend (Saturday 3rd to Monday 5th May) at Fistral Beach, have been cancelled.

Poor Surf Conditions Force Difficult Decision

Organisers announced today, 29th April, that the forecasted swell is simply too small to run fair and competitive heats. Despite excitement building around this major selection event, the decision was made to prioritise the quality of the competition and the experience for surfers.

“Making this call is never easy,” organisers said. “We are absolutely devastated to have two weekends planned and two forecasts of minimal conditions.”

Important Information for Athletes

All athletes who were confirmed to compete will receive a refund for their entry fee. However, the LiveHeats registration fee is non-refundable.

For those aiming to qualify for Team England at the upcoming Euros or Worlds, the selection policy will be updated as required within 48 hours.

A New Date is Coming

The organisers confirmed that they are in the process of fully reorganising the English National Surfing Championships and aim to reschedule the event later in 2025. Once new dates are confirmed, a fresh event format will be announced and registration will reopen as a new event.

Please note: previous entries will not carry over to the rescheduled event. Athletes who had registered will need to re-register once the new date is announced.

“We’re as disappointed as you are,” organisers said. “But we’re committed to bringing this event back with great waves and even better energy when the conditions line up.”
