Free Digital Skills Programme Returns to Support Women and Underrepresented Genders in Cornwall
Applications are now open for the September 2025 intake of digitalUPLIFT, a free 8-week digital skills programme created for women and underrepresented genders in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Delivered by TECwomen CIC in partnership with Truro and Penwith College, the programme aims to support people at all stages of their career — from those exploring tech for the first time to anyone returning to work or seeking to boost their digital confidence.
Training That Fits Around You
digitalUPLIFT is designed to be flexible and accessible, combining self-paced online content with three in-person workshops held at accessible venues across the region. The training is jargon-free and focused on building confidence, digital literacy and clarity around tech career options.
The programme is fully funded and free for eligible local residents, with additional support available for equipment, internet or travel if needed.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will cover a wide range of topics including:
-
Digital career pathways
-
Artificial intelligence
-
Coding
-
Business analysis
-
Project delivery
-
Personal branding
The course also includes one-to-one mentoring sessions tailored to individual goals, practical guidance on goal-setting and interviews, and interactive workshops focused on building confidence.
A Growing Community in Tech
As Cornwall’s tech sector continues to grow, digitalUPLIFT is helping to make sure more people can be part of it. The course uses a cohort model to encourage peer learning and connection, while offering networking opportunities with local employers and successful women already working in tech in the region.
Graduates also gain access to TECwomen’s wider alumni network and role model group, offering ongoing support even after the programme ends.
Following an overwhelming response to the first intake in 2023 — when applications more than doubled the available places in just one week — the programme is expanding again this autumn.
“We’re excited to launch a new round of digitalUPLIFT this autumn, with refreshed content aligned to industry needs,” said Ellie Smith, Programme Delivery Manager. “This programme continues to open doors into tech by building confidence, skills, and community for women and underrepresented genders in Cornwall.”
