Neon Jungle Roller Skate Rink to Open at the Lost Gardens of Heligan

The Lost Gardens of Heligan is set to open a new undercover roller skate rink later this month, bringing a bright, retro inspired attraction to the site.

Neon Jungle Opens This Month

The new rink, called Neon Jungle, opens on Friday 16th January and will transform Heligan’s iconic Jungle garden into a retrofuturist, neon lit skating space. The rink will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until 29th March, with additional midweek sessions during February half term.

Neon Jungle will also be available for educational visits and as part of event hire packages.

Design, Music and Food

The rink’s design has been inspired by the restoration of the Lost Gardens and aims to evoke a sense of lostness and adventure. Skaters will be accompanied by a curated playlist featuring retro hits alongside future classics.

Keeping with the retro feel, a pop up café will be on site serving crumpets with a range of sweet and savoury toppings, along with warming winter drinks. The Heligan Kitchen restaurant will extend its weekend opening hours until 6.30pm, offering winter favourites and a family friendly menu.

What Heligan Says

David Harland, chief executive of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, said:
“Neon Jungle is a hugely exciting development for Heligan and one we can’t wait to open to our visitors. It is a brilliant way to get active and have fun in the new year and will reinterpret the unique story of Heligan in a beautiful and striking fluorescent setting.”

More Activities Coming Up

Neon Jungle marks the start of a wider programme of activities and events at Heligan focused on wellbeing, wild connections and the rediscovery of lost games and activities.

The immersive light installation Submergence, previously featured in the Night Garden event, will remain at Heligan until 1st February. It will be open later on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to allow visitors to experience it after dark.

Also launching soon is Cornwall’s newest parkrun, a weekly 5 kilometre walk, jog or run held at Heligan every Saturday morning. During February half term, Heligan’s Home Farm will also open its doors for a series of immersive animal experiences.

Tickets and Booking

Neon Jungle sessions last 45 minutes and cost £10 per person, with skate hire available for an additional £3 for those without their own skates. Garden admission is not required to take part.

Pre booking is recommended and can be made via the Neon Jungle page on Heligan’s website.

Until the end of February, Heligan is also offering Free Range Pricing on garden admission, allowing visitors to choose how much they pay to enter the gardens.
