Heatwave interest spikes

Google searches for “second UK heatwave weather forecast” have surged by 1,000% in the past week. That spike in curiosity follows the hottest day of the year so far, when parts of the UK hit 33.2°C on 21st June – hotter than many popular European destinations.

With warmer conditions expected to return, travel experts at Parkdean Resorts say now is the time to book a UK holiday. Cornwall’s popularity is boosted by its crystal-clear waters, golden beaches and coastal spots like Kynance Cove, which many compare to the Caribbean.

Why the coast is a smart choice this summer

Parkdean Resorts also highlight several health and wellbeing reasons to head to the coast during a heatwave:

  1. Improved air quality – Coastal breezes are fresher and less polluted than air in built-up cities.

  2. Outdoor activities – From swimming and paddling to surfing and sailing, the sea offers a natural way to cool down.

  3. Deeper sleep – Sea air, rich in oxygen, helps promote better rest.

  4. Clearer airways – Salt particles and negative ions in sea air can help relieve allergy and asthma symptoms.

  5. Cooler nights – Coastal areas often cool more quickly after sunset compared to cities, helping to avoid overheating and sleep disruption.

Thinking of a staycation?

Parkdean Resorts are currently offering a range of 3-night summer holidays from £179 this July. With high temperatures expected to return soon, it might be time to beat the heat and book a break by the sea.
