The National Highways: South-West has announced an update on the ongoing road repair scheme for the A30 Longrock bypass, which has faced delays due to adverse weather conditions last month.
Originally initiated on 12 February 2024, the project aims to extend the life of the carriageway. However, the unexpected weather has pushed back the completion timeline.
Overnight Work and Road Closures
To mitigate the delays, the programme of work has been amended, with overnight operations planned for 8pm to 6am on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April 2024. During these times, the eastbound A30 carriageway will be closed between Chy-an-Mor roundabout and Newtown roundabout, with lane closures also in effect during the daytime. These closures are essential for the safety of the workers and the public and to facilitate the speedy completion of the repairs.
Diversion and Completion Date
A fully signed diversion route will be in place during the closures. The National Highways advises travellers to plan ahead and allow additional time for their journeys to accommodate these changes. They have also issued an apology for any disruption caused by the ongoing works.
Following the revised schedule, the road repair work is now expected to be completed by 20 April 2024. The organisation has expressed its commitment to minimising the impact on the local community and travellers and has urged the public to stay informed by monitoring updates on their website and Traffic England.
Staying Informed
For further information on the work and to view the diversion routes, travellers and residents can visit the National Highways website. The organisation stresses the importance of planning ahead and encourages the public to check the site regularly for any updates or changes to the schedule, especially in the event of unforeseen circumstances or further adverse weather conditions.
