The A30 in Cornwall will be closed overnight between Boxheater and Scorrier from today, May 7th, until Thursday, May 9th.
The road will close each night from 8 pm to 6 am. This closure is part of ongoing work on the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross upgrade project.
Weekend Closures
Following the overnight closures, there will be a full weekend closure of the A30 between Boxheater and Scorrier from Friday, May 10th, at 8 pm until Monday, May 13th, at 6 am. Diversions will be put in place for these closures. The A30 is undergoing significant upgrades, and these closures are necessary for the work to continue safely.
Changes to Diversion Routes
During the closures, diversions will be in place. For the overnight closures from May 7th to May 9th, and the weekend closure from May 10th to May 13th, westbound high-sided vehicle traffic will need to divert via Chacewater to avoid a low bridge at Scorrier. This is due to ongoing work to repair a collapsed mineshaft on the A393 Sandy Lane. All eastbound traffic and westbound traffic under the height restriction can use the diversion route via Blackwater. Local access will be maintained via the B3284 at Chybucca.

Future Closures
Further closures are planned for the A30. These include a weekend closure between Chiverton and Boxheater from May 17th to May 20th, and overnight closures between Chiverton and Mitchell from June 3rd to June 6th.
As the project progresses, further information, including future closure dates and diversion routes, will be made available through the National Highways website, ensuring the public remains informed and prepared for upcoming travel adjustments.
