Ferry Delays Feared: Will the LYNHER Refit Be Set Back by Strong Winds?
The Torpoint ferry LYNHER has arrived safely in Falmouth as part of its planned refit, but high winds have delayed the next stage of work.
Wind Halts Dry Dock Plans
LYNHER completed her journey to Falmouth on 31st March, but strong wind speeds of around 20 knots have prevented her from being manoeuvred into dry dock as originally planned. The ferry is currently moored alongside a jetty while the situation is monitored.
According to the update, A & P Falmouth are keeping a close eye on weather forecasts and are prepared to bring the docking forward if conditions improve before the weekend.
Return to Service Could Be Affected
The ferry had been expected to return to service by the end of May, but that timeline is now uncertain. Tamar Crossings say the delay caused by poor weather may impact the refit schedule.
Once LYNHER is in dry dock and the full programme of works has been reviewed, further updates will be shared.
Current Ferry Schedule
While LYNHER undergoes her refit, service continues using the remaining two ferries. These are running:
-
Every 15 minutes from 06:30 to 22:00 (on the hour and at 15, 30, and 45 minutes past the hour)
-
A half-hourly night service from 22:00 to 06:30
Tamar Crossings will continue to share updates on the service via their website and social media channels.
