Final A30 Closures Between Chiverton and Summercourt: Everything You Need to Know
As the A30 project nears completion, drivers should brace for a series of closures this month.
The A30 between Chiverton and Summercourt will face overnight closures from 8pm to 6am until Thursday 20 June, followed by a weekend closure starting at 8pm on Friday 21 June and ending at 6am on Monday 24 June. These closures are essential to prepare for the opening of the new A30 dual carriageway.
Detailed Closure Schedule
- Overnight Closures: The A30 will be closed nightly between Chiverton and Summercourt from 8pm to 6am until Thursday 20 June.
- Weekend Closure: A full closure of the A30 from Chiverton to Summercourt will occur from 8pm Friday 21 June until 6am Monday 24 June.
During these periods, local access will be maintained at Chiverton and via the B3284 at Chybucca. The link from the A39 to the north via the B3285 will also remain accessible.
Preparing for the New A30 Dual Carriageway
These closures mark the final phase of construction as all junctions and lanes of the new A30 dual carriageway gradually open. The road is set to be fully operational by the morning of Monday 24 June.
The construction, which has been a significant undertaking, aims to improve travel efficiency and safety. National Highways extends their gratitude to the people of Cornwall for their patience during this project.
Upcoming Local Road Closures
Following the opening of the new A30, work will continue on local roads to finalise the project. A crucial phase involves the B3277 link road from Chiverton Junction to the Services roundabout. This road will be closed 24/7 from 9am on Monday 24 June until Friday 12 July.
Traffic from the A30 to St Agnes will be redirected via the A30 to Scorrier junction, through Blackwater, and back onto the B3277 at the Services roundabout.
Impact and Planning Ahead
With the final stretches of the A30 project in sight, residents and drivers are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time. The diversion routes have been carefully planned to minimise disruption, but extra travel time should be anticipated.
For a detailed map of the diversions and more information on the new A30 layout, please visit the National Highways website.
This significant upgrade, part of the Government’s Roads Investment Strategy, has been supported by an £8 million contribution from the European Regional Development Fund, with an additional £12 million allocated for the construction phase.
Stay tuned for further updates as we move towards the completion of this critical infrastructure project.
