Tregony with Cuby Parish Council Secures Funding for New Wheeled Sports Park
A new wheeled sports park is on its way to Tregony, following a £93,199.50 investment from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, delivered through Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme as part of the Good Growth Programme.
A Space Designed for Everyone
The new facility will be built in a designated corner of the Tregony Sports Field, a well-loved community area. Designed to follow the natural contours of the land, the free-to-use park will provide a safe and inclusive space for scooters, skateboards and BMX bikes. It aims to create much-needed recreational opportunities for children and young people in the area.
The project has been shaped through community consultation, including input from local schools. It will feature seating, safety signage, hedging, cycle racks and soft landscaping to ensure the park blends naturally into its surroundings.
Supporting the Parish’s Vision
The development supports Tregony with Cuby’s Community Action Plan by expanding youth activities and improving green spaces. A nearby pollinator area will also contribute to biodiversity and help reduce noise.
Cllr Dorian Spackman of Tregony with Cuby Parish Council said:
“This project is a fantastic step forward for our community. It reflects our commitment to creating inclusive, active spaces for young people while enhancing the natural beauty of our parish. We’re proud to see this vision come to life with the support of the Community Levelling Up Programme.”
Community Support Behind the Project
Cllr Rob Knill, Chair of the Roseland & Truro Community Area Partnership Funding Panel, added:
“The wheeled sports park is a brilliant example of how targeted investment can make a real difference at the local level. It’s a project that brings together community priorities, youth engagement, and green space improvements in one exciting initiative.”
Cllr Julian German, Cornwall Councillor for the Roseland Electoral Division, said:
“I am delighted to see the skate park coming to completion. Young people told us it was what they wanted and the Parish Council have worked hard to deliver it. Tregony is a strong community and this extra facility will help it to continue to flourish.”
The park marks a significant step for Tregony with Cuby Parish Council’s commitment to supporting young people and enriching community spaces.
