Challenging conditions provide vital training for RNLI crew

On Saturday, 23rd November 2024, Penlee Lifeboat Coxswain Patch Harvey and the volunteer crew of the Ivan Ellen lifeboat braved storm force winds for essential training exercises. The session, conducted west of Mousehole, saw the team putting the RNLI’s All-Weather Severn Class lifeboat through its paces to ensure readiness for extreme conditions.

Preparing for Emergencies in All Weathers

The RNLI crew prioritised familiarisation with the lifeboat and its equipment, ensuring they are fully prepared for any potential call-outs during severe weather. Training in challenging conditions is a crucial part of maintaining the high standards required for the charity’s lifesaving efforts.

The RNLI charity provides a 24-hour search and rescue service along the coasts of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Volunteers like Patch and the Penlee Lifeboat crew play a vital role in saving lives, responding to emergencies in all conditions.
