Truro Embarks on City Clean Up 2024: A Community-Led Initiative to Beautify the City
Truro is set to witness a remarkable community-driven event aimed at tidying up the city. The “City Clean Up 2024,” scheduled for the 8th and 9th of March 2024, is a collaborative effort spearheaded by Truro BID in partnership with Newham BID, Truro City Council, Kartha, Clean Cornwall, and various other organisations.
The event’s primary goal is to engage local businesses and encourage them to volunteer time towards cleaning and beautifying Truro. Volunteers are invited to contribute an hour or more to participate in activities such as litter picking, sign washing, and cable tie cutting. This initiative is a testament to the community’s commitment to maintaining the charm and cleanliness of their beloved city.
To ensure a comprehensive clean-up, Paul Caruana, a local community volunteer, is organising litter picks in Truro’s surrounding neighbourhoods. In tandem, Damien Richards is coordinating with Truro community groups to amplify the impact of the clean-up effort.
To support the volunteers, the organisers will provide the necessary equipment, including high visibility vests, gloves, bags, and litter sticks, courtesy of Clean Cornwall. This logistical support underscores the collaborative spirit of the event, ensuring that volunteers have the tools they need to make a significant impact.
Some of those who take part in City Clean Up, may wish to meet up on Friday 8th of March at 4.30pm at The Tapyard Riverside on Newham Road following the Newham BID litter pick!
Those interested in joining the City Clean Up 2024, either in individual or group capacities, are encouraged to reach out via email to sian.knights@trurobid.co.uk.
This event is not just about cleaning; it’s a celebration of community spirit, collective responsibility, and the pride of Truro’s residents in their city.
