Cornwall Confectioner Teagan Takes On Aldi’s Challenge in National TV Spotlight
Cornwall-based marshmallow artisan Teagan Rowlands-Bryant is set to captivate audiences on Channel 4’s “Aldi’s Next Big Thing” this month.
Her brand, Moosh Mallows, could find its way into over 1,000 Aldi stores nationwide if she can charm the supermarket giant with her unique confections. Teagan, a solo entrepreneur and mother of two, combines family life with her passion for crafting the perfect marshmallow, a journey sparked by a career setback during the pandemic.
The Making of Moosh
In 2021, Teagan transformed her kitchen trials into triumph with the launch of Moosh Mallows. Known for their chunky, fluffy texture and array of flavours, from Classic Vanilla to the daring Dark & Stormy, these treats are hand-cut and feature all-natural, pescetarian-friendly ingredients. Moosh not only prides itself on its taste but also its eco-conscious packaging, shunning plastic entirely.
From Kitchen to TV
The upcoming TV series, hosted by Anita Rani and Chris Bavin, provides a platform for artisans like Teagan to showcase their products directly to key decision-makers at Aldi, including Julie Ashfield, the managing director of buying. Teagan’s episode (episode 4), which promises to delve into the heart of her business in Helston, airs on April 23. Here, viewers will get a glimpse of the passion and hard work that goes into Moosh Mallows.
Awards and Accolades
Teagan’s endeavours have already gathered significant recognition, with a Taste of The West 2024 Gold Award highlighting her product’s quality. Her ability to juggle the demands of motherhood alongside her business, particularly following a house move, speaks volumes of her dedication and talent.
Tune in for a Taste
Aldi’s Next Big Thing broadcasts every Tuesday at 8 pm from April 2 until May 7. The series will culminate in a decision that could see Moosh Mallows elevated from local food fairs to a national supermarket staple. Will Teagan’s Moosh Mallows make the cut? Tune in to find out.
About Moosh Mallows
Aside from their exquisite taste and texture, Moosh Mallows stand out in the marshmallow market through their use of fish gelatine, catering to a broader audience, including those adhering to pescetarian diets. The range of nine distinct flavours ensures there is a Moosh Mallow for every palate, backed by a year of impressive sales and international interest.
A Global Journey
From local Cornish food festivals to international shipments as far as Australia and Thailand, Moosh Mallows have delighted customers worldwide. Teagan’s background in marketing and branding shines through in her product’s presentation, which is as meticulously crafted as the marshmallows themselves.
As Teagan prepares for her television debut, the anticipation among friends, family, and fans is palpable. She hopes not only to win over Aldi’s executives but also to continue growing her fan base, proving that even the most off-the-wall ideas can meet with enthusiastic approval and success.
