Cornwall Council Announces Deadline for Old Bin Collection as New Waste Service Begins

Published On: 13 January 2024Last Updated: 13 January 2024By

Residents of Mid-Cornwall are being reminded by the Cornwall Council that the deadline to arrange for the collection of their old rubbish bins is fast approaching. The council, in a recent Facebook post, emphasised the significance of this deadline as the region transitions to a new waste collection system starting the week of January 15.

Under the new waste management program, only rubbish placed in the newly provided bins or protective sacks will be collected. This move is part of the council’s initiative to streamline waste collection and encourage recycling.

For residents who have been using their own rubbish bins, the council suggests considering repurposing these containers for other uses like garden storage or converting them into water butts. Alternatively, these bins can be donated to local community groups.

Those who wish to dispose of their old bins can take advantage of the council’s recycling offer. The bins will be collected and recycled, but residents must book this service by January 14. Bookings can be made through the council’s website.

The transition to the new waste collection system is a step towards enhancing waste management in Cornwall. The council is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and is encouraging residents to comply with the new guidelines to help maintain the cleanliness and environmental health of the community.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by Cornwall Council to promote recycling and responsible waste disposal. Residents are urged to participate actively in these programs for the betterment of the community and the environment.
