Mid West Cornwall Bin Update: What You Need to Know About Rubbish Collection Changes
Cornwall Council has shared important updates about upcoming changes to rubbish and recycling collections in Mid West Cornwall, covering areas such as Camborne, Redruth, Falmouth, Penryn, St Mawes, Truro, Probus, Trispen, Mitchell, Perranporth, St Agnes, Portreath, and nearby locations. The changes are tied to the introduction of new food waste collections, which will roll out in March.
New Bins for Rubbish Collection
From March, only rubbish placed in the new bins or protective sacks provided by the council will be collected. Recycling will continue as usual using coloured bags and a box, while the new food waste caddies are to be used for food scraps.
What to Do with Your Old Bin
Residents have several options for their old rubbish bins:
- Repurpose it: Use the bin for garden storage or turn it into a water butt.
- Donate it: Offer the bin to a community group that might find it useful.
If neither of these options is suitable, the council can collect and recycle the old bin for you.
How to Book a Collection
Starting 10th February, residents can book a collection for their old bins through the Recycle My Old Bin service. More reminders and details will be provided closer to the date, and a helpful leaflet outlining the changes will soon be delivered to households.
Make sure you’re prepared for these changes to ensure a seamless transition to the new collection service.
