18-02-2024 Weather in Cornwall – Yellow Weather Warning Issued For This Morning

Published On: 18 February 2024Last Updated: 18 February 2024By

The MET Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain, effective from 3:00 PM on Saturday, 17th February 2024, through to 9:00 AM on Sunday, 18th February 2024. Residents and travellers are advised to prepare for potential travel disruptions and flooding due to the heavy rainfall expected over the weekend.

The warning highlights that bus and train services may be significantly affected, with longer journey times anticipated. Road conditions are expected to deteriorate, with spray and flooding likely making travel more challenging and extending travel durations. The MET Office also advises that a few homes and businesses are at risk of flooding, urging those in vulnerable areas to take necessary precautions.

Moreover, there is a possibility of some interruption to power supplies and other essential services, suggesting that communities should be prepared for potential outages and service disruptions. The MET Office recommends staying updated on the latest weather forecasts and making appropriate arrangements to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions.

Travellers are advised to check the status of their routes before departing and consider alternative plans if necessary. Those in affected areas are urged to follow guidance from local authorities and emergency services to ensure their safety and minimise property damage.

As the situation develops, the MET Office continues to monitor the weather patterns closely and will provide updates as necessary. Residents in the warning areas are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their properties during this period of inclement weather.
